The Akron Urban League proudly announces the MLK Breakfast 2024, scheduled for Monday, January 15th, 2024, at the Hilton Akron/Fairlawn from 8:00 am to 9:30 am. Under the resonant theme, “Moving Forward,” this event reflects the enduring spirit of progress, unity, and resilience as we honor the legacy of Dr. Martin Luther King Jr.

We are honored to present Dr. Rachel Talton as the distinguished keynote speaker for this momentous occasion. Affectionately known as “Dr. Rachel,” she brings a wealth of experience and expertise to the stage, having designed, managed, and implemented successful research studies for some of the world’s top brands.

In the spirit of Dr. King’s enduring words—”If you can’t fly then run, if you can’t run then walk, if you can’t walk then crawl, but whatever you do you have to keep moving forward”—Dr. Rachel will share insights on progress, perseverance, and the power of moving forward in the face of challenges.

Dr. Rachel has been selected as a 2023 BOW Knows Growth Awardee, a 2023 Trailblazer Award by Derby Diversity Week, one of the 2022 Enterprising Women of the Year, the 2021 Woman of Achievement by the Greater Akron Chamber of Commerce, a 2021 Smart Business Magazine Progressive Entrepreneur, a 2021 Hidden Philanthropist by The Soul of Philanthropy, as one of the top 100 CIO’s in the U.S. by the National Diversity Council in 2021, and the 2020 Woman of Vision by the National Coalition of 100 Black Women, among several other awards.

In addition to these accolades, Dr. Rachel has been honored with the Blue Key Oratory Award, Entrepreneur of the Year Award, and the Minority Business of the Year award. Her success stories in brand communications, notably for Dell and Microsoft, make her a captivating and inspiring speaker.
